I have probably the best LD to DVD transfer out there. Hit me up if you want a copy.

I've had the original on tape for years and if only Lucas would come around and consider us purists out there who want the good old stuff to buy new.

Unfortunately even the laserdisc version of the theatrical cut is a pretty shoddy transfer(I have a copy of US and UK laserdisc versions) which I'm pretty sure is only mono although it is a digital track. The transfer has lots of noise and is from some dirty dusty print, scratches, hairs, black blobs... you name it.
I'm working on a remastered theatrical version from the laserdisc removing frame by frame as much muck as possible so this will be close to dvd quality as I can make.
So far it's taken me 4 weeks to do 16 minutes worth... It may take me some time.

Thanks dcc-9547
Using Neat Video plugin for VirtualDub you can remove most of the noise.
Here's what it looks like on the original trailer (which had loads of grain) as well as frame by frame editing to remove other blemishes...
