Wow, really ticked off now!!!!!
« on: November 12, 2004, 05:04:40 pm »

I thought all would be ok. I went and purchased a mint copy on VHS from Amazon.com where it is listed with the original packaging and everything from the 1991 VHS release. Well looks like Lucas pulled a fast one. These brand new copies are the director's cut and I think they are just copied right over the origianls!!! The box is the original box and no where on it says director's cut or remastered or anything. The best part about it is that not only did they copy over the old one (must have been an unsold one sitting in a wharehouse) but when they did, they did not check the final copies which have some kind of anti-piracy warning that comes up saying "Property of WHV this is a rental or a copy please call 1-800-no-copys to report". Now I'm sure that amazon is not to blame because this is a brand new sealed copy, so it has to fall on the Warner Brothers plant. I have already contacted the no copys people to file a complaint and I think I'll have to do the same with Warner Brothers. Absolutely insane!!!!! Well I'm about to try again and purchase a used copy and suck it on to DVD, let's hope for the best........

Who was the seller?  I just checked amazon.com and found nothing but second parties selling, that is, nothing from Warner Bros. direct.

It may not be Warner Brothers' fault, or Lucas' for that matter.  You might have purchased a copy made from the DVD to a VHS.

Just a thought.

No, It was directly from WB. I bought it brand new straight from Amazon still sealed. Luckily I found a third party with an original and purchased it. Now I will tranfer it to DVD and be happy!!!!!!!!
