Well, fellow Community Members,

I was shocked today when I went into Town and found out that the THX 1138 Directors Cut DVD was actually Released here in the UK! I was told it came out the day before you had it, which was 13th September.

I had always been lead to believe that the 14th was the Release day and it was only getting a USA Release, but that's not so.

I only found out cause I thought I would enquire anyway, while I was there.

Fortunately they had it in store so I just bought it there on the spot!

Good news, it even made MVC's DVD Chart, it is at Number 31 this week!! Now this is amazing for a Film as underground as THX is!

Mind you, Number one everywhere here in the UK is the Star Wars Trilogy that just came out last Monday. They are advertising this to the hilt, but there was no promotion at all for THX 1138!!

I don't know why they feel the need to promote a Film as well known and loved as Star Wars!! It was gonna be a big seller anyway!!

I wish THX 1138 would get this kind of promotion.

Oh well, I can console myself in knowing it actually did make the DVD chart in one shop here in the UK and I now own the DVD!

I've not watched it yet, I will be doing that tomorrow, and then getting back to you all on my thoughts.

I love what George was able to accomplish early in his carreer, of course most of the credit for his work must be givin to those around him, due to his insanity it is difficult for me to like him any longer. Poor george cant keep his fingers out of the soup, like a lemming on the loose he just cant stop himself.  Part of the brilliance of thx is the enviroment it was shot in and even the planning for the destruction of the film by nature of its viewing.  Its sad really that he cannnot keep himself from thinking that a little bit more is better, less is more - really.  The directors cut of bladerunner is a perfect example of less is more, remove the dialoge that they thought it needed (because were to stupid to get it) and then end the movie without the hollywood added happy finish....perfection, and you can watch both versions if you want.  George has such control issues and what scares him most is the fact that HE is not responsible for his success, WE are, and WE liked the other versions that were created years ago by people that worked with george.  Give george total control and guess what you get - new star wars that looks like a bad saturday cartoon with very little grit, life or soul. The quality of the new thx looks great if you can stand to have george suck its lifeforce from it at the same time.

We've pretty much beat this horse into a pile of broken bones on this forum - but I do agree with you.

What a complete load of sh*t! Your tired little ass wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for Lucas. You can try and claim all of Lucas' accomplishments are not his, but even a twat like you isn't stupid enough to believe something so idiotic and asinine.

I hate to tell you this, but Lucas is the fucking cook in this case. He created and cooked the soup, and if he wants to stick his finger in the soup and take a sample, and change the taste, he can do it.

Yeah, and that brilliance was shot, directed, and created by George Lucas. It was his vision. He's got more talent in the tip of his pinky than you have in your whole body.

Yeah right! So you were right there with George creating those great films and giving him tips on what to do? I suppose you also sent Lucas money to help him make the film? I suppose you also visited George in the hospital during the making of Star Wars? I guess you also helped George struggle with studios for financing and such?

Shut the hell up. You didn't do a damn thing but sit on your sorry ass and watch the fruits of his hard work. So did everyone else. We didn't make Lucas. Lucas made himself. Therefor, Lucas doesn't owe you or anyone else a damn thing. He created those films. He poured his heart and soul into those films. He made them great. You were just a punk kid at the time, if you were even born. What an ignorant clod.

Now that I've shot your idiotic post to pieces, I think I'll have a drink.
