Rated G or Rated R?

Has anyone noticed how odd it is that the original cut of THX was rated "G" and the new release is rated "R"?? Either the MPAA has undergone substantial change since 1971 or Lucas has decided to insert a new "Girls Gone Wild" segment! Woo Hoo!!!!

It would seem to me to be rated R, since LUH's breasts make appearances twice in the film, not to mention the erotic dancers (male and female).

But, for these reasons, maybe a PG-13 rating would apply.

If I remember correctly the film ratings system changed sometime in the mid 70s.  Don't ask me for the details or the exact year, though!  :oops:

Heck it may not even have been instated until then, but I'm not entirely sure. Anyone with more info plz enlighten us....

The rating system was implemented in the mid 1960's. I believe it was originally a PG rating (then known as a GP rating). I believe it avoided an R back then because there was no bad languange, but you can't show naked bodies these days and not get an R.

Yes! That's it. I knew it wasn't rated 'G' to begin with, but also didn't think it was 'PG' or 'R' either... !
