When I found out...

that the DVD was considered "The George Lucas Director's Cut" I decided to order the VHS of the original. I've only seen it once, but I think it's worth spending nearly $20 because it will certainly be a lost cut of the film once the DVD roles in.
When I was watching the trailer I was like "Woah, I don't remember seeing that! Was the quality of the tape that bad?" No. But new special effect shots are being added. I heard the number somewhere in the hundreds, but that's blind speculation, i'm sure.
I'm guessing the same thing will happen, that's happened with Star Wars. I still have my beloved Original versions, of the Trilogy (of course the tapes squeek now because I've had to of watched Empire/Jedi 50+ times.) Now fans are complaining they want the original cuts again. Of course I can't wait for the Special/Archival editions this Sept.
The same thing is happening all over again. But I have to admit I'm very excited for this DVD release.
Does anyone know if it's possible to find posters for THX? Re-prints? Or even just photos?

I'm asking myself for a question.
If George Lucas had not 800 000 but 20 million $ budget in 1970 to realize THX 1138, how would had he realized it ?
(sorry for bad English))

Before to many people get too excited about all the changes that Lucas is making with "The Drirector's Cut" Take a look here:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/ref=pd_kk_sr_1/104-9050917-7186324?index=dvd&field-keywords=thx%201138
If you check this page, you will see
two
versions of THX-1138 on DVD! The first one is "The Directors Cut" and the one right below it is "THX-1138" dated 1971.
The orginal on DVD as well? I pre-ordered both, and they are scheduled for delivery on the 17th of this month, so I will take a look and see.
If this is indeed the case, then THX lovers everywhere will be happy and I'm sure that they will consume and prevent accidents!

Sorry man,
Both of the dvd's offered are the Directos Cut. One is a single disc offering with all the CGI additions and the other is a 2 disc set, the first disc being the same with bonus features on the second disc. If you want the original you will have to get the VHS or Laserdisc copy. There is also a VCD import version that is the same as the original VHS but will play on most DVD and CDRom players/drives.
GL sure would make alot of people happy if he were to release the orignal on dvd, but he won't.
I am still very pleased to have the updated dvd. I still have a VHS and VCD copy for the original. Plus I am going to see it in the theater on the 10th at the Cinerama in Seattle.

Blessings of the State. Blessings of the masses. Thou art a subject of the divine. Created in the image of man, by the masses, for the masses. Let us be thankful we have a job to fill. Work hard; increase production; prevent accidents; and be happy.
