Yoda and OMM
« on: March 18, 2006, 08:25:30 am »

I am probably way off base here -- and I have been known for comparing obscure things that nobody else can see a connection to -- but when I keep thinking back to the scenes where THX is talking to OMM, and not being satisfied with his answers;

I am seeing a strange parallel with Anakin seeking Yoda's wisdom in Episode III.

We can't outright say that Yoda's advice is as banal and canned as the words of OMM, however, both seem only to render the protagonist increasingly distressed, and engage in increasingly "unstable" activity.

THX's society has drugs and rules governing and maintaining this emotionless society, while the Jedi have the Jedi Creed , part of which states "There is no Emotion, There is Peace".

Again, not a precise parallel, just another Lucasism, one that perhaps Lucas himself did not consider on a conscious level Tongue

Could you be more... specific?

haha.  That's interesting.

...When I first arrived here, I saw things as perhaps you do now.
Yes, I was confused about my predicament.
I longed to thrash out.  To tear down.  To destroy and annihilate.  To... to ravage and wreak havoc and plunder.
