X-ray Diffractometer in THX 1138
« on: January 28, 2006, 05:27:11 pm »

I was given the THX 1138 DVD for Christmas this year (I had seen the movie in the 70's). While watching I noticed that the scene with the hologram in the room with the bottles of fetuses includes about 5 seconds of a shot of an X-ray diffractometer (This is an instrument used in Chemistry to determine the structure of chemical molecules). I am trying to find out what lab owned this diffractometer; it would have to be a university lab or maybe a govt lab. Several of us that do this kind of work with this kind of instrument are trying to find the origin of this instrument. (see the discussions on www.crystalanswers.net - "social" area). To see a clip of the scene, go to my website: macxray.chem.upenn.edu.
