THX-1138.ORG

THX 1138 was director George Lucas' directorial debut. Released in 1971 to a lukewarm reception, it's captured the hearts and minds of viewers around the world since.

The film was a dystopian, symbolic vision of one man's escape from his daily imprisonment. It commented on many ills of society, both then and prophetically, today.

The sounds and images that erupt from the film are carefully planned and wonderfully executed. THX 1138 was a film years ahead of its time.

The Elusive Return of the Jedi Reference Exists!

If you've got the new Star Wars Blu Rays (and I know you do), check the deleted scenes for Return of the Jedi, specifically "Jerjerrod's Conflict."

As he's rotating the Death Star towards Endor, he learns of the rebel fighters entering the station.... "Flood sectors 304 and 138, that should slow them down."

So there was one the whole time, but it never made it into the final cut.

Can't wait for those Indy Blu Rays George and Steve.... c'mon!!!

Theatre of Noise Issues

Why doesn't somebody tell me when these things break!? Angry Angry Angry It's been down for a while apparently, happened with a recent PHP update which rendered the gallery software incompatible....

Anyway, I'm still experiencing some issues with the gallery. I've managed to get it working again, (YAY) but the theme is somewhat broken and strange things are popping up where they shouldn't be. I'll get to looking at it when I get a chance.

THX 1138 Blu Ray Review

Just to get this out of the way right now, here's the short version: If you've already got the 2-disc DVD release of the "Special Edition", then you've already got this. Needless to say I was ~~somewhat~~ very disappointed with Warner with this release.

That's not to say it isn't worth it, just to have an absolutely brilliant 1080p copy of THX 1138, even if it is the SE version. The picture AND sound were amazing, as to be expected. The detail brought out was a bit interesting. I didn't remember the "white" walls in a lot of places being as grungy as they show up here. I'll have to go back and watch the DVD again, to see if there were any new changes. I don't believe there were, but in a couple of places I did raise an eyebrow going "I don't remember that, maybe, possibly..."

But there are no new extras on here as compared to the DVD, none. Zero. Not even an insert in the package. Wow, really?

The most disappointing is that there is no inclusion of the original 19...

THX 1138 on Blu Ray - Release Date!

Amazon has updated with a release date of September 7. Getting closer!!

Unfortunately there isn't any more info on what will be included on this disc. I for one am hoping that they don't wuss out and that the "old" version will be on here, even if its not full HD.

New Forum Signups Halted

Yeah, I'm shutting off new signups for the forum. Lets face it, until Uncle George decides to give THX a decent Blu Ray makeover, I fear the site is more or less dead in the water. Right now the only people registering are spammers. Natch.

I'll leave everything up, but don't expect much in the way of new content or anything. Enjoy the Theatre of Noise, peruse the previous posts in the forum. Sorry it has to be this way.

Maybe at some point in the future I'll redesign the site around the Theater of Noise or something. Who knows.
