THX-1138.ORG

THX 1138 was director George Lucas' directorial debut. Released in 1971 to a lukewarm reception, it's captured the hearts and minds of viewers around the world since.

The film was a dystopian, symbolic vision of one man's escape from his daily imprisonment. It commented on many ills of society, both then and prophetically, today.

The sounds and images that erupt from the film are carefully planned and wonderfully executed. THX 1138 was a film years ahead of its time.

THX 1138 on Blu Ray - Release Date!

Amazon has updated with a release date of September 7. Getting closer!!

Unfortunately there isn't any more info on what will be included on this disc. I for one am hoping that they don't wuss out and that the "old" version will be on here, even if its not full HD.

New Forum Signups Halted

Yeah, I'm shutting off new signups for the forum. Lets face it, until Uncle George decides to give THX a decent Blu Ray makeover, I fear the site is more or less dead in the water. Right now the only people registering are spammers. Natch.

I'll leave everything up, but don't expect much in the way of new content or anything. Enjoy the Theatre of Noise, peruse the previous posts in the forum. Sorry it has to be this way.

Maybe at some point in the future I'll redesign the site around the Theater of Noise or something. Who knows.

EDIT: According to CNN, GL himself was actually present to send off Luke's ROTJ Lightsaber into orbit. So maybe it wasn't mere coincidence. Nice touch NASA!! Wink

No THX like movies in the future?

Ol' papa George said once upon a time that after Star Wars was finished, he'd like to get back to making movies like THX 1138 again. But it looks like we're going to have to wait a bit longer, as he's ramping up for production on a live-action Star Wars TV series!

Is Lucas' 'Star Wars' TV series preparing for takeoff?

Bummer that. I also wonder if this series is going to be any good at all without the direct hand of George? Although history seems to have proven that Star Wars fares better with others at the pen than Lucas. (you know this to be true!)
